Nichiren Shu Practice Seminar (Danshinto Kenshu)

Above: Participants pray before meal time, offering gratitude for the food they are about to share.

Below: Simple, yet healthy vegetarian food gives the body all the nutrients it needs to practice to it's full capacity for the seminar.

A Practice Seminar was held at the Temple for two days at the end of January 2009. Members practiced chanting, meditation, copying the sutra, water practice and learned proper manners in conducting services.

Below: Members practice water training (suigyo). This is a voluntary practice in which participants splash cold water over themselves seven times as purification. The body generates heat as a reaction to the cold water, and the resulting feeling is one of unexpected tranquility and calm.
